Three federations, one shared mission

SWIMSAFE is a cross-border collaboration between the national swimming federations of Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia — each bringing distinct expertise, water environments, and community reach to the project.

Roles and responsibilities

Serbian Swimming Federation (PSS)

Plivački savez Srbije · Project Coordinator

As the lead organization, PSS is responsible for overall project coordination, financial management, and ensuring compliance with Erasmus+ guidelines. PSS will lead the development of training materials and safety guidelines, ensuring that all educational resources are aligned with EU standards for open water swimming safety. Additionally, PSS will oversee quality control, reporting, and risk management, ensuring the project is implemented efficiently and delivers long-term impact.

The federation has extensive experience in organizing national and international swimming competitions and has developed youth training programs in collaboration with local and European partners.

Croatian Swimming Federation (HPS)

Hrvatski plivački savez · Training Implementation Lead

Is responsible as Training Implementation Lead and will organize and execute regional training workshops, where selected participants (swimmers and coaches) will receive structured training on risk assessment, self-rescue techniques, and sustainable open water swimming practices. HPS will also ensure that training programs are inclusive and accessible, engaging young athletes, female swimmers, and underrepresented groups.

Slovenian Swimming Federation (PZS)

Plavalna zveza Slovenije · Dissemination & Sustainability Lead

Plays a critical role in dissemination, sustainability planning, and community engagement. PZS has a strong track record in environmental awareness initiatives, particularly in promoting responsible use of aquatic environments. PZS will be responsible for embedding project results into national swimming curriculums, leading public awareness campaigns, and ensuring long-term sustainability.
